Neo Romance in the era of millennials and centennials: trends and fashions

Generation X matured with social networks, while millennials directly grew with them, and centennials were already born with them. Are there generational differences in love and romance? Do social networks make a difference in romantic relationships? In the deep sense, couple relationships are relatively equal from one generation to another. Although there may be certain trends.

For example, the first trend of neo-romance between centennials is that they boast of wanting open relationships, and not defining themselves by one gender or another . It's a fashion? Is it pure pose? Is it okay to say it? You can, we can't be sure if it's a neo romance trend. That will be seen over time. But generation X has already been scalded from those open experiences of poly-love that their parents tested without much success and enough drama.

Millennials , more naive in a sense, have idealized their relationships and idylls thanks to the distance provided by social networks and instant and private messaging services . Many, many, have come to have a true romance, and even several, through the networks. In some cases, that romance included a romantic relationship of fidelity (not always reciprocal, of course). And all without getting to know each other, exclusively online.

It is said, despite its naivety, that millennials is the first generation that has killed romance . The possibility of having numerous romances, flirting and more or less sporadic sexual relations at the turn of an app and a click makes the romance, or rather the commitment of a medium or long term relationship, jeopardize. Not to mention everything that is said about that they no longer know how to link face to face, but via mobile.

Despite so much generational evolution, they continue to weigh the couple's culture and the search for the better half as if it were the holy grail . It is like a goal in life. And when you have it, you have to show off on social networks. This is a trend in the digital romance. But the statesmen already warn: tell me what you presume and I will tell you what you lack. There are studies that say that the more a couple presumes in social networks, the greater their romance problems. I do not know. It is true that technology has ended up to a certain extent with the culture of the league, going out with the healthy intention of linking, working it face to face and with a certain perseverance. But romance, whether digital or analog, remains the same, they feel the same butterflies as they did decades and centuries ago . You also have to work it out, it may be easier, but there is also much more competition, so I don't know.

In essence, I don't think there are many generational differences when we talk about romance and love. Now there are more possibilities, more competition, more likely to have many more partners throughout life ... but not everything has to do with technology and social networks, also with labor conditions, sometimes abusive, the precarious labor market , labor mobility, the impossibility of having your own home and making plans for the future ... All this creates instability ... and the long-term romance you are looking for is stability. In neo romance and true love there are no trends . It is as always. It throbs you or it doesn't throb you ..
